PostSubject: Cloudy Eye   Cloudy Eye EmptyFri Oct 09, 2009 8:05 pm

Well to start the new Jag is doing awesome, as I knew he likely would with a little TLC! Anyway before I moved them to the 125g they were determining territory....well I moved them and then they needed to continue on. It was never anything that did damage, just what Cichlids do. Anyway long story short my female won this week long dispute (as I knew she would). They are doing great now, not even a chase...well maybe a flare back and fourth but thats it. So during the dispute the female scratched the males eye and a couple days later he gets cloudy eye on that eye.

Now I let it go for a couple days but no changes, actually started to get worse. I have been treating with melafix for about 4-5 days...I did two 50% water changes in the last two days...The eye seems to be getting better but not a huge improvement, and very slow. So after the W/C Wednesday I started a melafix and pimafix together, so far it seems to be getting better but still very slow. I am going to run this for 2-3 more days and if no improvement will start something stronger. Anyway, any recommendations on what has worked on a stubborn case of cloudy eye? I don't want to use a lot of heavy meds as they just got through a basically 2 week treatment for precautionary measures. Suggestions...comments?

Assuming it's bacterial, you could try Malachite Green, Formalin, or maybe Acriflavine. I suppose tetracycline may work in a pinch too.

Well, I assume it is bacterial myself, I looked in today and it is looking much better almost clear and not as puffy looking...It did have a nipple on it but that is also almost gone as well...I got about two more days of melafix...the pimafix/melafix together seemed to work more effectively.

Ya. The two compliment each other really well. Glad it's clearing up so quickly.
