Demasoni are pretty aggressive for their size. Any that Detroitfish mentioned would be good, I'd stay away from some of the more mellow species myself, but that's my opinion.

how about fuelleborni or trewavsae? there are about 15 or so demasoni in there right now with another 3 on the way when i can catch them out of the 135. there is a swap meet in chicago in 2 weeks and i can get just about anything that i want there. i dont like auratus but i want some color in the tank

What about some Pseudotropheus polit or some Pseudotropheus flavus...I think the 55g is too small for fuelleborni or the trewavasae in my opinion once full grown. Another good choice would be Metriaclima greshakei.

Personally I would keep a real aggressive mbuna with Demasoni. While they are aggressive they are not aggressive towards other fish. They are however really hard on themselves and anything that looks similar.

I really think that the added aggression from crabos, aratus, or any of the other really aggressive mbuna would be too much.

I have seen the Demasoni and Yellow Lab tank and it looks spectacular.
