| Thanks to you both! The pearlscale was a favorite of mine, loved the color and patterns it had, and it was a hardy, relatively undemanding fish. Another of my favorites, I was never able to get a decent picture of, was my tasseled filefish. One of the most unique looking saltwater fish I kept, and it also had a wonderful personality.... click here to take a look at one (not mine). | |

| Nice shots, love the pearlscale. From the background in the pics, looks like a FOWLR? Thinkin' about havin' 1 salt tank, it would be a FOWLR.

| Wow, thanks for all the comments, everybody! Yes, it was a FOWLR, I think I may have tossed a couple large hermit crabs in there, but other than that just fish. I had 5 saltwater tanks going at one time, these are all pics form my largest one, a 125 gallon. Also had a couple 29 gallons and a couple 10 nanos. Used deep sand beds and NNR Jaubert style filtration on all my tanks, IMHO you just can't beat it for healthy systems. | |

Used deep sand beds and NNR Jaubert style filtration on all my tanks, IMHO you just can't beat it for healthy systems. Ever have problems with gas build-up in the sand beds? Read horror stories 'bout a bubble bein' released. How deep a plenum did ya have underneath the sand bed, and how deep a sand bed did ya have? How long did ya have the tanks runnin'? Read that Jaubert filtration is a time bomb waitin' to explode time and time again on one hand, on the other hand I read testimonies that its the greatest. Curious how ya avoided the problems that seem to crop up with it in some situations. Sorry if it seems like I'm givin' you the nth degree interrogation, here. I'd call my experience with salt water aquariums "dabbling". Never really had an opportunity to ask these questions from someone with experience with this style of filtration. WYite | |
