Wild Caught Lizards Empty
PostSubject: Wild Caught Lizards   Wild Caught Lizards EmptyFri Jul 24, 2009 2:49 am

While I was down in NM last week I caught a 1-1.5 inch lizard. Now I have never been into reptiles but this guy is cool, we went to Walmart and got him a little five gallon tank and some things to go with the tank. Yesterday my stepdad called and told me he caught a lizard same size and almost identical to the one I caught. He put him in the same tank as the other one, I am hoping to get an aquarium for them and do everything right and possibly raise them till either they get too big or what not. Now I am going to need some help...first I will need to identify them....hopefully you guys can help me out. I will get some pics of them when I get down there....we can go from there. Also will need some care and requirement help? I have never lived anywhere you can just catch these things and it has sparked my interest inkeeping them. I will know more when I get down there and can get pics and ask you fine folks here at FWM!

Or this: http://www.wildherps.com/images/herps/standard/08052301PD_side_blotched_lizard.jpg

There's a crapton of varieties of side blotched lizards down there, so coloration may not match up.

LOL ... you guys are making me want another lizard! I had a Water Dragon some years ago & I just LOVED it!!! I named it Little Geek, it was soooo sweet. I already had a Female Tarantula at the time I got the Dragon & the Dragon became my fav. I think my Tarantula knew this & after she molted ... she got mean as hell ... & I mean MEAN! I couldn't even pick her up anymore ... also it was like she evolved ... I have never seen a Tarantula be able to climb glass like this! Was like she developed little suction cups on her feet/legs.
I come from Southern Indiana/Kentucky & we always found these little wierd Salamanders but look nothing like the photos in the "Clicks" above. I miss my Little Geek!!! Sad

They are brown with a similar pattern to the one you posted Saint....as I remember it's back was pretty smooth as well as it's tail...the tail was not that long.

Sounds like a fence lizard, genus Sceloporus.
