Nice pick up! 6 is a good number for keeping discus. Have you ever kept them before? They are not as hard to keep as everyone makes them out to be. They are just super sensitive to fluctuations in water chem.

Yea, Mike is right, I kept some for a while. You just have to be very consistent with water quality and changes.

Hopefully yours will get less hidey for you soon.

The handful I had were *always* insanely shy. Mike had a bunch of things he tried that worked to make his less skittish, but I never had good luck with it.

I would let them settle in a little before moving them again...maybe a couple weeks. Good pick up, what kind are they? Anyway good luck with them, I have kept many Cichlids but never Discus!

How are the Discus now?

With discus its better to keep 6 or more this way they can establish a strong pecking order were one fish isn't singled out and killed. It also increases the chance that them might pair up What a Face

I want to try discus one day when I have a bigger (I mean at least 100 gallons) tank. I wonder why discus are one of the very few schoolers of the cichlid world

Mainly because of most Cichlids size and aggression!

So true, I can't believe angels and Discus are cichlids though.
