| 'cause I need to change my pants.
I went to bring in one of the small plastic ponds I use for plants, from outside back inside for the winter. A few days ago, I emptied it out and stood it up on it's side to dry out, much like dishes in a drying rack. I went out this evening/morning (3am you pick) to grab it.
Picking up the pond, it was heavier than it should have been, and one softball sized, manky, hissing pissed off (so very pissed off) possum half skittered, half leaped out of it. Even with the light on, where it was at night is kinda dim and the scratching of it's nails on the plastic tub and then it hissing while it ran out into the corner sure did a great job scaring the bejesus out of me.
The worst part about it is now that I've mostly calmed down I feel kinda guilty taking the poor guy's winter housing.
Whoo, or something. | |

| Code brown? What about code yellow? We have a ton of Possums over here, they usually are killed when they are stuck in the trash can and the Sledge of death comes down on their head. | |

| LMAO.
Few weeks back, we let the dogs out for a run, and the Aussie takes off like a striped-assed ape to chase the birds away from the bird feeder. Tribble, the Pomeranian, runs 'bout ten feet, then stops, which he usually does cuz' he's eight years older than the Aussie is and his short legs just won't keep up with her for long. After a pause, he starts sniffin' the grill of my truck, then starts barkin' at it. So I figure there's a mouse or sparrow up there, go grab the keys and pop the hood. I lift the hood and Tribble just really goes crazy. I look over and all I see is fur. Jumped back 'bout 10 feet. The wife had just walked up, she got the sarcastic words,"What's wrong with..." out as she looked in, then jumped back 10 feet herself. I've now regained my composure, look again, and I see the dreaded vorpal rabbit sittin' between the grill and the wheel well, LOL. Just a cottontail, but when yer expectin' a sparrow or mouse, something 50 times larger throws ya for a loop.
It was daylight though, and definitely no Code Brown. Rabbits don't hiss...

| At my grandmothers, me and my cousin, Cameron found a rabbit and we started chasing it yell'n "Come here Peter Cottontail" and then we looked for and hour to find that rabbit. We saw it again the next visit. Also, I once had the S*** scared outta me when I was 'bout 7 or 8, and a Possum about as big as me was on the back porch when the light came on, I ran to my room and started to cry. LOL, me when I was a wus, now I'm out, looking for trouble. I will spend hours following tracks to find a coon or smething and end up lost in the woods. I always find some of my checkmarks. Like a tree with a limb nailed to it to make a cross and a creek | |

| I've not made it a habit to get close enough to possums on a regular basis to know that they hiss. The hissing part was what I think might have freaked me out the most. | |
