| So most of you know about my pacu collective, and the pond of gigantic pacu wonder..
We had a power outage today thanks to a pretty good windstorm. Power was out about 8 or 9 hours, give or take. We all decided to make a day of it and go out and do things in areas that still had power. A good time was had by all, and when we got home, the power was back on but I had to reset a few breakers.
The breakers are in my office, Their pond is right next to my office. As I came down the steps I had saw my one chair had been knocked over, and there were books all over the floor. At first I thought it was the cat, but after turning the corner I caught sight of one of the pacu (one of the largest if not the largest) stiff on the floor.
I'm assuming something from the power outage spooked it and caused it to jump, I'm not sure what it could have been though since they've never jumped before and we've had power outages before.
So, as I was cleaning up, I decided out of curiosity to get the stats on it, and again I realized that only the truly insane should have these guys at home.
Length: 2ft 9 3/4 inches. Hight: 16 1/2 inches at the widest point. Width: 6 inches. Weight: 33.7lbs.
Yes. 33 lbs. I actually had my scale set to grams initially and the number came up as 15,286. I'm not sure how much drying out a fish can do in a few hours, but he may have even been 34, poor bastard.

| Er, I'm not so sure about the gorgeous part. Maybe in that English Bulldog sort of way maybe. What they lack in pretty they make up in personality. | |

| Damn, he could of easily knocked over the chair at that size. Sorry about the loss though, I guess your feeding bill will be a little less now though. | |

| I'm fairly sure he knocked over the chair. I wasn't there but I can't see how else it would have ended up getting dumped, or a bunch of books off the bottom bookshelf either.
MC: Feeding them isn't bad. They get Trout Chow (Purina brand even) Ends of the greens the torts don't eat and grapes. Holy crap do they love grapes.
I still wish I knew what spooked him though. Watching them today they were a bit more rammy than usual. I need to look up some breeding info on them. I wonder if whatever happened was some sort of over aggressive breeding gone wrong. I know they're egg scatters but I don't know if it's like koi where the male needs to shove the female around to get the eggs out?
