Photobucket" border="0" alt=""/>

just added the jewel cichlids after finding a new home for the shark and the pleco. not the greatest pic but still working on the best lighting to get them in a pic without their colors fading or the flash leaving a reflection on the glass as in this pic.

Cool, thanks for sharing! Try taking the pics with no flash and a faster shutter speed, may help you out a bit!

tried the no flash and all i get is a dark blur. haven't figured out shutter speed on the camera yet. ive used the same camera before with no flash reflection on the other fish same tank. i might have been having bad luck the other day. that and the fact they have been here for 4 days isn't helping their color anyway. they are still settling in.

one thing i haven't been able to figure out is why one is redder than the others. the research i've done says that means the differance between males and females and other says that isn't always the case. Does anyone know which is right?

No flash requires a slower shutter speed usually but then you end up with blurry fish. The best way I've seen to get good pics is with a remote flash and fast shutter speeds. That way you get the light you want but no reflection from the glass.
