The question I have is simple. Does it make a difference to where I have my spray bar?
At present I have it slightly below the water line, to mainly keep it quiet. I change some of the filter media today and that got me to wondering which is better. I have been looking in my manual and it doesn't say if keeping it above the water line or or below it is better.

Is the spraybar attached to a sump, canister, or hob style filter? Actually makes a difference during a power loss situation.

Sump will back siphon until the spraybar is above the water line. The other 2 will not. Personally I would have it just below the water line to keep it quiet like you do. I'm not into the bubbles that I see in some peoples tanks.

If you don't have it attached to a sump just make sure you have enough surface agitation to promote the exchange of co2 and oxygen. That would be my main concern.

It's a canister filter. I also have a power head running to help with surface agitation, so I'm good.

Thanks for the answer
