Male Jaguar Empty
PostSubject: Male Jaguar   Male Jaguar EmptySun Jul 18, 2010 11:08 pm

Well some of you know about the male jag I got about a year ago now, some don't. To make a long story short I got this fish on aquabid he was in rough shape, skinny, HITH, and would not eat. Well He is now in excellent condition and has grown quite a bit sense I have had him. He has passed my female in size who was almost two inches bigger than him when I got him.

It took some time to get him eating and a long time to get him to take pellets but pellets have been a large part of his diet once I got him eating them. Well sense the move about a week or 10 days ago he won't eat. I seen him take a pellet or two but spit them back out. I am very suprised esp sense his health is so much better. I am sure he will come around but it worries me when a fish of that size won't eat.

My jags act like koi, so I can't speak for them, but I have a beefy old male RD here who I need to vary his food every few days or he acts just like that, and won't eat.

I switch it up between Hikari Food Sticks (compressed red stick looking ones) koi pellets. and some of the ones I use for the box turtles. For fish that just will not eat, I've also had good luck with worms. Usually earthworms, tho sometimes, superworms, really is just depends on the size of the fish. Crickets are popular too, but they can escape if the fish is slow.

Yeah, I think I am gonna feed some live for a few days....If I remember, last time I was feeding earthworms then made the transition to pellet fairly easily. I think with this fish it is a stress thing with him, maybe an attitude.
