| Hey guys, I just was looking for pics of some Jack Dempsey and found this site so I figured I'd make an account and post my fish! That is my 55 Gal tank. I would like a bigger one, but until we get a bigger place 55 is enough This is my Green Terror (I believe) I asked for a Jack but when he grew bigger I noticed he was a Terror. The one in the back is a Male Dempsey. My beautiful Male Dempsey that I wish could breed but I have no luck finding females at local shops I have 2 other Jacks but they wont pose, so when they do I will post some up of them. Any suggestions on how to "look" for a female Dempsey? What is the best way to tell when small? Or is it too hard when they are young? Thanks guys! | |

| You'd need somewhere for them to go after the fact, but once you get more room and another bigger tank, you could use the 55 to get 4 or 6 juvies to grow out. Once they're big enough to sex, keep one or two females and the rest go to a new home. or a third tank, no one says you can't have a third tank. | |

| Welcome to the forum! The easiest way to tell the difference is the blue on the gill plates the females have pretty much blotches of blue all over the gill plates the males will have smaller spots and hardly any blue on the gills at all. Have you checked aquabid for females? I have a female but probably wouldn't ship. | |
