Hello,
I currently have 3 55gal tanks running with an assortment of SA/CA. Firemouths, Flowerhorns, Oscars, Midas, Jack Demsey's, Honduran Red Points, Black Convicts, Green Terror's, a few plecos and syndontis'. I am currently refurbishing a 100gal Metaframe tank. So if anyone has experience or advice please let me know.
I'm glad I joined, this is a very good site.
Paul

Welcome to FWM, Paul! Nice selection of fish, looks like you'll need that 100 gallon before long.

How far are ya goin' with the refurbishment? Resealing, replacing any glass panels, etc. I'm assumin' it's one of the 60/70's vintage with a metal frame and a slate bottom. I have two that I need to finish restoring myself, a 2.5 and a 10 gallon. They were built to last and are sealed tight. The 2.5 gallon has a broken pane I was gonna replace, and I broke both pieces adjacent when I was tryin' to remove it. Unless ya absolutely have to, I wouldn't take it apart. I'd advise scraping the sealant down nothing and just resealing the inner seals. I don't know, the 2.5 may be a lost cause, but I definitely will not take the 10 apart just to ensure the joints are secuere between panels.

Lookin' forward to seein' it come along. May I suggest starting a thread in the DIY section?

What part of Nebraska ya from?

Thanks for the reply! I don't plan on taking it completely apart, that sounds like a lot of work. I have already taken the inner seal out as well as most of the outer seal. My plan was to seal the outside with black silicone to make it look authentic. As I stated I sealed with silicone on the inner seal and it leaked so my fear is that it is leaking thru the slate. My other thought is that I just didn't seal it well. I am going to throw on a new silicone seal today and make sure that I do a better job this time. We'll see. The other idea I got from an online source was to get a piece of glass cut to cover the slate and seal, that way you wouldn't have to worry about the outer seal at all.

I'm from Bellevue, NE just south of Omaha, how about you? We've been thru Wyoming many times.

Welcome to FWM Paul, Im Paul as well, good to have you! Anyway sounds like it will be a nice tank once you get it done, the older tanks were always cool.

Here's a link to the metaframe tank refurbish I did several years back. I know you have looked at it already but wanted to get this in for others as well. Let me know if you have any questions. I'll see if I can help.
