| Thanks!....Just started stacking rocks really....You will find a lot of right answers on this forum if you stick around. I brought the rocks in washed them good in hot water tehn added them to the tank. | |

| LFS specialist IMO don't know what they are talking about. LFS specialist up here tell people that fish will only grow to the size of the tank. :angspmd: @ MC tank | |

As MC said, overstocking to reduce aggression is a common practice and can be very effective. The only time I have ever kept species tanks for mbuna is in breeding set-ups in 20 long, 29 or 30 gallon tanks, in order to prevent hybridization. Even then, I'd suggest a minimum of 4 to 7 fish, 1 male and the rest females. Nice lookin' tank MC. WYite | |

| well does that include lots of males also. obvioulsy the males are more colorful etc but can i overstock them or does it have to include alot of females for the males. also what exactly is a "dither fish" and what kind do you suggest | |

| Dither fish are usually schooling fish used to get skittish fish out and confortable out in the open. They are not necessary in an African tank. Mbuna are not shy what so ever. You could keep an all male tank but you will want less fish and several more species. An all Male tank will be pretty aggressive and you must be sure to have all males. There are plenty of species with beautiful females too. | |
