| After calling my favorite lfs and asked if they had any large fish in and they tell me they just have a 12'' wolffish, and a 12'' water cow, and a 10'' tigrinis catfish. So I told him my name(we knew each other for years) And hes says to me wow I haven't seen you for yeas. So he says I will give you the tig for 30 buxs. So I said thats a hell of a deal I'll take him. So I have him on hold until tommrow and I'll post pics then. | |

| Hopefully you're planning ahead or, um something. You got some very big boys up in there. Or those 2 tanks are gigantic. Aros get huge, some of the eels you got get huge. Dunno what else you got, in there. I just know I'd cry if something big killed off something else big. Some of my long term rescues I've gotten kinda attached to. I don't know your setup or situation so I'm not going to give you shit about it, but just be careful is all. Fish keeping ain't like playing Tetris. Tho you keep stacking them like that and some are going to disappear. | |

| Tiger shovelnose? Pseudoplatystoma tigrinum? They're larger than either the tigrinus or juruense. The tig and juruense get app. 2', the tiger will push 3 1/2 to 4'.
I plan on havin' one or more someday, when I've got a tank big enough.

Not giving you crap, but you should never buy fish based on future plans to get bigger tanks, you should get fish based on what you have now. IMO | |

| Doesn't mean it's a good idea. Around two summers ago, I got offered 4 Aldabra tortoise hatchlings (Geochelone gigantea) I wanted them. I wanted them really really badly. They had great personalities, they were sweet, and I wanted them. There was no rational explanation behind it. Had I not seen them in person I imagine it would have been easier. I spent a lot of time thinking, can I plan ahead for when they become adults. What can I do when they outgrow x, y, and z. Adult Aldabra tortoise carapace usually gets to about 4 feet. They usually weigh in at 550lbs. There are males in captivity weighing in at 700lbs. I did spend a good amount of time, working on the problem, and logistically, I managed to reasonably make it to y before I had to conceded that the cost and time in housing something this large just was not feasible currently. You never know what may happen in the long run. What happens if I had to quarantine one of the adults, what happens if this, what happens if that. I know I do some crazy things currently, and I know at times my stocking is unstable and volatile but these are usually (hopefully) short term situations until they find better homes. Anyone that for whatever reason lives here permanently, I try and make sure I can house them from the get go. | |
