Man...that is always a tough call. I would probably give it time and see if they come through...but you can tell better through their actions than we can through pictures. If they are suffering and you really don't think they will make it through treatment then you may want to end their suffering.

If you really want to put in the time and effort, I've had Oscars come back from looking like that and are now scarred but healthy. It's just a lot of babysitting, water changes and crossing your fingers. Formalin is some harsh stuff, you may want to alternate salt baths and formalin.

Just pace your treatments and go easy on them.

On the other hand if you do decide to go the euthanize route. I've found clove oil to be one of the most painless options for larger fish, an ice bath also works.

Well I decided I am dedicated to trying to save them...I think if I can get their slime coat to grow back they just might make it. I lost the Severum over the night but the GT is doing better. I am going to do a salt bath and another 75% W/C while they are in the bath. Then I am going to work on the slime coats, Wish me luck.

Awesome. Hopefully it will work out.

I don't know if it will do it with yours, but the oscars seem to shed the top layer of skin, and as it's healing/growing back, it's a rough pink/red very raw looking color that will eventually turn whiteish and then back to the normal color. They may not use it at all, but the Oscars here, seemed to also really like having a hiding spot to feel more secure as they heal..

Tehe Convict and the GT were the only ones that made it.

Here is a current photo of the GT!

Well it took a good two weeks, lots of salt and lots of water changes! Once healed up a bit I did a complete substrate change and tear down. I am still keeping 1tsp per gallon of salt in there which seems to be helping with the healing.....Total time to heal up to what she looks like now was about two months.
