The substrate looks great, MC! Your fish have made a fantastic comeback. What is the bottom layer under the sand? it looks darker or is it just a shadow?
No that is what it looks like...I think because it is such light sand the light shines through the first couple of centimeters of sand.

Looks very nice!!! I love sand, just somthing about it looks so good IMO.

If you don't mind ending up with a million of em, you could get some MTS to put in there, they help stir the sand up and help with the gas bubble things. I started out with about 30 or so and now have lord knows how many..but they pretty much stay under the sand, until the lights go out then you walk in and your like OMG!!! Another funny thing about having them is when ppl look at your tank and don't know you have them in there then they see the sand start moving and they are like "WTF....your sand is moving"!!!!

The 55 looks great! The velvet survivors look to be recovering nicely. The pics from the 29gal look good as well. :gdjob:

That does look very nice. I think I may give that a try in the smaller pond. Some of the fishies are hard to see on the black pond liner.
