PostSubject: Finally MTS!   Finally MTS! EmptySat Mar 07, 2009 12:17 am

I finally have Malaysian Trumpet snails which haven't died! I finally fixed the lights on my 2 week old tank, and lo and behold, baby MTS! This is the only tank in which they have even survived, let alone reproduced. Go figure, it's a new tank with skyhigh ph - at least I consider a ph of 8.5 high, but the lake tang fish I am about to get need it that high or higher.
Dozens of babies everywhere! Yah! MTS are a great clean up crew and sand aerators - and they work for fish food! I would have to pay my brother $10 to get him to clean a fish tank! Smile

I had mysterys lay and hatch, as well as ramshorns, pond snails, spixis, and those crazy mini ramshorns (those things are a plague...). Great, isn't it? I just can't wrap my head around the fact that I can breed mystery snails in the same tank that the MTS couldn't even survive in. I thought MTS were supposed to be a pest?

I had 25 MTS and they never laid eggs now I'm just down to 1. In the same tank I had 25 red cherry shrimp and they didn't last a month. People say discus are hard to keep but I say shrimp and MTS are.

How did you do it?
