| I don't know how many there are, but its a lot! This is the male protecting the eggs at the moment. Anouther with the male protecting the eggs. The female is out front making sure that none of the tank mates come anywhere close. They have been protecting about a third of the tank for 3 days now. When I left for work this morning they where digging a pit in front of the pot. I was hoping to get some pics of them spawning when I got home, but I was to late. | |

| With the 2 JDs, a Black belt, a Jewel, and the catfish sharing the tank I'm not sure how many will survive so this weekend I'm going to section off the tank. Hopfully I will get some little ones to offer to anyone who would like to have some. The only fee would be shipping supplies and postage. I have never shipped fish before so I will be looking to for tons of advice for you guys. I dont want to make anyone go through the mess that Lady G did. | |

| I'm not sure what happened but when I got home from work tonight I seen all the plants in the 125 floating. I went over to see what the heck was going on and found that the mayans were not guarding thier eggs. I looked inside the pot and all the eggs were freakin gone! I searched the entire tank and no eggs but I did see that the female had been beat up pretty bad. I camped out for a while so that I could try and get an idea of what was going on and saw that every time the female went near the pot the male would dash over and attack her. Like he was still guarding the eggs. I wasnt sure what else to do, so I checked the tank over again just to make sure that the eggs were really gone, them did a 40% water change and rearranged the tank hoping it would come the male down. He is still showing some mild aggession towards her but mostly towards his tank mates that wonder near the new pot that hes claimed. I dont think the other fish provoked them. They showed a lot of respect fot the Mayans claimed territory and I made sure everyone was well feed. The water temp/parameters were right on target and there are more hiding places in the tank than there are fish. This really sucks and to be completly honest I'm big time bumbed out about this whole thing. If anyone has any idea what I have done wrong please let me know. The Mayans spawn several times through out the spring and summer and I want to be sure and avoid this in the future.
Mike I will let you know when they spawn again and if your still interested in having me send you some I will do my best to get them to your door safe and sound.
Again, if anyone has any ideas or suggestions please , please, please feel free to coment. Ed

| Sorry for the loss. I know my Angels would eat there eggs 2-3 days after being layed due to them not being fertile. I suggest setting up a 10g and when they lay again I would move the eggs into in or I would set up a tank that housed the male. His aggression towards the female makes me think he ate the eggs.
When you fry shoot me a pm and I'll still walk you through shipping.

| I think the female may of ate the eggs. It is pretty common for them to do so if the eggs are not fertile sometimes they will do so even if they are due to them being fairly new to the process. The male has realized they are gon and is pissed possibly at the female. You will probabally see some aggression for a few more days. | |

| I set up a tube last night just incase I needed to separate them. When I checked on this mornig they were sharing the pot that the male clamed last night so I left them together. I'm going to run home at lunch and check on them. Hopefully I will find all is well but if not I will separate them for a couple of days and see if that helps.
Thanks for you sharing you thoughts Mike & MC. Its much appreciated. Ed
