Tank Residents Empty
PostSubject: Tank Residents   Tank Residents EmptyWed Apr 15, 2009 11:24 pm

I have a 20g high (soon to be) densely planted tank that now has 12 fish as residents. I have 6 glodanios, 1 dwarf gourami and 5 panda cories. I also have 4 ghost shrimp. How does this sound for stocking? I won't be adding any more from this point. Does it sound overstocked? I figured on 12 because 2 of the species are schooling anyway so I didn't see an issue there. Any thoughts? I have one piece of planted driftwood, 2 bunches of moneywort, 1 large camboba, 1 amazon sword, 2 bunches dwarf grass, 1 moss ball and 2 (oh I forgot the name atm) medium roseacea plants.

Some may say it's over stocked but considering its planted and considering your maintnance schedule I don't personally see any problem with the stock or your plans with the tank.

I don't think it's overstocked, so long as you keep up on it. I don't know about the dwarf ones, just be careful of the gourami, I've seen them be mean for no good reason.

Yea, mine tends to do that from time to time too. I only have one male and at least the others are all faster than he is. If he ruins the peace in the tank I will take him back to the lfs. Very Happy

I figured that 12 total would be okay since 2 of the species are schooling fish. Also, 10 inches of Danio is not equal to 10 inches of Jack dempsey when considering the 1" per gallon deal. They already love to play in the plants and seem to be doing well. As a matter of fact, the bloated little orange one has slimmed down and is much healthier since I went from 3 glofish to 6. Only grumpy guss in the tank is the gourami and he is okay most of the time, just moody once in a while. Since all the others are faster than he is I don't think he will be a problem Very Happy

Think ya ought to be fine there, Ivy, with your set-up and maintenance schedule the way it is.
