Common Name(s):
Dwarf Copper Mouth-Brooder

Origin: Africa, Southern Zaire, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Angola.

Family: Cichlidae

Species Type:
Pseudocrenilabrus

Maximum Size:
2 1/2 Inches -5 Inches depending on location of catch.

Life Span:
10-15 Years

Natural Habitat: Found in lakes and streams with rich sediment, niches, Roots and plants for hiding.

Diet: Readily accepts flake and stick. Wild species will eat from mosquito larve to plants. This species is not very picky when it comes to eating!

Temperature:
68-76 Degrees

PH: 7, Medium hard 12 dGH.

Minimum Tank Size:
Minimum 20 gallon for a pair.

Tank Region:
Mid to lower

Temperament: Territorial when breeding, aggressive towards its own, Peaceful to other species.

Possible Tank Mates:
Fits in with numerous Malawi fish and Victorian fish. (Labs, Haps, Pundamillia, to name a few.)

Filtration and Setup: These fish like lots of hiding spaces like caves, rootwork, plants and niches. Any hang on back filter will work fine for these fish. Likes a sandy gravel mixture for a base.

Breeding:
Mouth brooder, forms Matriarchal family. Does typical African Cichlid mouth brooder love dance, and digs pits for the occasion.

Coloration: These fish are a beautiful yellow. They have black accented dorsal fins and speckles on their anal and caudal fins. They also have beautiful blue spots on the fins. Females are plain brownish or silvery color.
