I was hanging out while they were breaking down some cichlid stuff up at the fish farm. They have a fairly large canister/pool filter set up for one of their systems. As they were breaking down the filter, we found fish in it.

It's either a trimac or a flowerhorn, based on coloration, and has been in there since at least december, since based on their records that was the last time they had either fish in.

It has a big nasty sore on it's one side, and is currently here in with some antibiotics. It's acting perfectly fine though it's even scrawnier than that Jag MC got a few months back.

Once the meds run their course I'll get some pics, since I'm pretty sure I know someone who can tell them apart. Wink

Wow! It's amazing that it lived in there for so long. Good luck bringing it back SF.

December is the last time they got them in, but no one could remember exactly when either were all finally shipped out. Since they're getting out of tropicals, they've been even more lax about record keeping than before, and they were pretty bad to start with. Wink

The big thing right now is that I really have to fight the urge to dump a ton of food in there. I feel bad for it being so horribly thin. Smile

Nice find, hope it comes around. I have found fry in my filters form the Mbuna....lots of fry and often in fact....I usually let them go back in the tank but they get snatched up quick.

Antibiotics are done monday, then I'll get some pictures. I never realized before how close Trimacs and FH are looks wise, so I'm stumped.

Once it warms up, and once he fattens up, if you're still looking for a FH and are cool with not knowing for sure what he is, you're welcome to him MC.

Unless someone else can id him, coughwyitecough. Wink

Hmmm. I will have to consider it Saint. But I want one and locally there is nothing and over the internet they are just asking way too much.

You ain't kidding. Some of the ones on Aquabid go for an insane amount of cash.

If not this one, I'm sure we'll end up with another one here sooner or later, we had a few last year, so I'm sure we'll see a few more this year too. Smile
