They are cool and easy to care for. Smile
I have had mine for 6 months and can't seem to get him to not run and hide if I'm in the same room. I have had him walk onto my hand once in a while, but he seems to just hide all the time.

Any sugestions on how i can get him to not be so scared?

The short answer, daily tormenting. Wink

It's far easier if it's a juvie, but what's worked for me is I get them fresh water daily, and after I refill the water, I'll take one or both out for a bit. When I put them back I also drop in a few crickets.

The juvie male that's here took about a 3 weeks give or take, to be fine with being held. There's a adult female here as well, that came in near the same time that still doesn't like being picked up. She's way better about it then when she was first here, but she's definitely not a fan.

I don't think they'll ever get to be like beardies where they'll run up to you when you come over, but after a while they'll be considerably calmer about you being around.

Well it hasn't been that long since you gave your advice saint and since then he has been more adventurous. Today I did some rearranging in his tank and he has been exploring for over an hour. He even ran into my hand and tried going up my arm. Thanks for the advice, I'm registered on a reptile site, but they seem more interested in morphs and breeding.

Aquatic-Terrors has a reptile section with some very experienced keepers...I asked about the same lizard cause I was thinking about getting one....ended up with a whole lot more info than I imagined.

No prob CW. If there's anything else you want to know feel free to ask. I don't really keep them long term, but I've taken care of enough of them I should be able to help you out. Leopards, tokay and goldens for sure at the very least. Smile

I know exactly what you're talking about with a lot of reptile sites being super big into the morphs and whatnot. I was pretty creeped out reading about what they're doing with bearded dragons. One of the reasons I like here. Smile

MC: Didn't know if you saw it or not, but you CAN NOT put more than one male together. They will beat the ever loving shit out of each other until there's only one left.

Yeah I was going to do one male or one male and two females....I was told to also stay away from a pair cause the male will breed the female to death. May just do two females.

Ya I do. These were taken a month after I got him. His markings and color in pics are what they look like when they are young, as he's getting older a lot of those markings are faded and his color is slightly different.

His tail is fatter now and he's around 2.5 inches longer. I said in an earlier post I had him for 6 months, but it's been more like 5 and he is probably around 6 to 7 months old now.
I'll try to get more resent pics.

I have to get batteries for my camera, so I can get new pics of him. I had him in my hands again today and he was very calm. I get nervous when I get him out of the cage, I have five cats that would love to have him get away from me.

Not that I'd recommend 'em to most people, but if you ever want to terrorize your cats, get a Tokay gecko. The one here literally barks at the cat if it gets too close to her tank and has on more than on occasion caused the cat to jump 3 feet in the air with tail fully puffed out.

MC: The males are as bad as rats/mice/hamsters as far as breeding goes. If you did want to breed them and not keep three, you can keep the male in a 10.
