Think of it this way.....five Rottweiler puppies in a studio apartment. Then think about five full grown rottweilers in a studio apartment. Stick with two of those fish sooner than you know they will fill out the tank and make it look small.

I my self have one nearly adult red dragon flowerhorn and one young female in a 125 gal tank with 1200 gal hour filtration , one midas in a 75 gal with 800 gal turnover , two green texans in a 125 with 1300 gal turn over and two blue escondido texans in a 75 with 800 gal healthy ,very beautiful ,happy fish

Here's another though.

If two tiny oscars look weird to you alone in a 100g tank, why not ask around at some of the local fish stores, and see if anyone has dropped off two adults.

You'll not have the issue of tank looking sparse, and they may even just give them to you since folks try to rehome adult Oscars on a pretty regular basis.

Well the thing is is that I want to raise them when their little so that they can reconize me Very Happy

as their father. Very Happy

Im giving it a though still on having to have a 200gal tank on hand and getting those fish. But ya I might as well just go with 2 oscars.

Alright. I was wondering since Im going tom to pick up a 100 gal tank and already have a tank set up. Is their a quicker way to speed up the process of having an established tank. Heres what Im going to doing day by day and tell me what you guys think

Sunday
1-Clean tank with water and scrub
2-pour in 25-30% of my established tank water into the new tank.
3-pour in 25-30% water from the tap.
4-clean all the old decor and gravel and place it in the new tank.
5-pour in the rest of the water.
6-setup filter and let it run
7-get a handful of gravel from my old tank and put it in a net and place it in the new tank.
8-let it run and watch it Very Happy

Monday
1-Test the water
2-if okay put the fish in??(Im assuming thats a not right if the tank only ran for about a day)

Tuesday
1-test the water
2-If okay put the oscar in the tank?? And go buy another oscar hopinh the one I have is a female and the other one Im buyin is a male..................and then also get some more other fish Very Happy

This part of your plan looks OK. The only thing I would do different is move "4-clean all the old decor and gravel and place it in the new tank." and do it as #2. If possible I would place some filter media from the established tank into your filter for the new tank.

Most people will put a few hardy fish in right away. Fish like Danios, Barbs, white clouds and I'm sure others will mention others. I wouldn't stick the Oscar in.

The tank will not be ready for at least 6 weeks for more fish and a new Oscar. You also need to buy a good test kit. Here is a simple article you can read on why you need to take it slow and be patient. "Why Cycle Your Aquarium" We also have others you may like to read: "FWM Articles"
I can guaranty others will most likely give you much more advice on this subject, that goes farther than I have.

Your step #2 won't do anything to speed up the cycling process. You will just be adding slightly dirty tank water to your new tank. Beneficial bacteria is mostly found in the substrate and filter media. You should take some of each from your established tank to help seed the new tank.

You will also need a source of ammonia to help establish the new tank. As CW has pointed out a few hardy fish could do the trick it is also possible to do a fishless cycle on a tank using just ordinary ammonia. One key benefit to this is that there will be no fish present in the tank if an ammonia or nitrite spike happens and fewer water changes. The downside is there are no fish in your tank while it is cycling.

I was wondering what am I going to do with the fish after the tank is settled? Also how long do I wait till Im able to put in the oscar or should I say how soon.

If you put a new filter on the other tank and move an established filter to the new tank along with some gravel from the other tank you can just fill with water, of course use a dechlorinator and add fish once temp is steady and filters are running. Another thing you can do is squeeze out some filter sponges into the new tank to get the bacteria in there. I would say 24 hours, make sure the heater is working, your temps are where you want them and that your filters are running and whatnot.

I was wondering what kind of canisters filter do ou guys recommend? Because I cant put an hob filter because their is a light casing but then their are also these stuff right next to the lights, looks like it helps with the water filter. I will post pics in a bit.

ohhh tanks dimension are 61x12.5x26 and it says ecplise on the light housing. Also is would it be okay if I add this in my tank along with the 2 oscar? Bala shark, silver dollors, and or fish of the sort?(Any recomendations if I add them? I know you guys said dont add anything else but is it okay if I add these which are not aggressive.
