My Kid's 20 gallon Empty
PostSubject: My Kid's 20 gallon   My Kid's 20 gallon EmptySun Feb 15, 2009 11:31 am

So I went out to the LFS yesterday with my 2 boys so they could set up their 20gal tank. They wanted the neon gravel which I talked them into mixing black gravel in with it. I let them each pick out some decor which is the sunken ship and the rock mountain with a cave. They also went for the red mickey mouse platys, a trio of peppered cories (Corydoras paleatus), and a pair of blue brigs (mystery snails). Both of which will eventually be going into different tanks. So here's the pics... Very Happy

Thanks guys. Yeah the kids are loving having their own tank and feeding the fish. The black gravel mixed in really does cut down on the hideousness of the neon gravel...lol.

Having the kids involved is all ways fun! I think they will have a blast with the plattys, especially when they see the fry.

New 20 gallon set up, $50 dollars. Extra time with the kids, priceless!

Best of luck, Ed.

The black was a very cool idea. I may have to pick up some black gravel to mix in with the bucket of random bits I got left. That looks nice and I think it will tie together all the really random colors in the random bucket.

Also, did you guide them to those fish or did they willingly pick them on their own?

Just wondering because the insanity is high in mine.

The 7 year old loves Puffers, Discus and Catfish (The bigger and crazier the catfish the better). The 5 year old insists the arowana is his, and insists on goin to look at the other aros ever time I go pick up random supplies at Capt Nemo's (It used to be Big Al's). Also the last time we went to Nemo's the 1 year old threw a gigantic crying fit when we had to leave the 16" flowerhorn tank. He didn't care about much else fish wise until we saw that one then didn't want to leave it at all.

lol...sounds about right, Saint.

My kids wanted the 4' moray eel first then the nemo fish then the 3 albino Oscars then the $80 discus, etc...I don't know how many times I said lets keep looking...lol. So yes there was some guidance but as soon as I showed them the mickey mouse markings on the platys they didn't want any other fish. The mouse from central florida always helps out with the kids Wink

Dang. I wish the mouse from central florida had influence like that with mine. They'd look at those and ask me who we were feeding them to. Wink
