| Everyone here for the last week besides myself has been sick. I've been trying to take care of everyone (people and animals) and failing at it miserably. With the kids barfing and needing tending to, my animal schedule has been completely screwed up for this week.
The one day that was really bad with the kids, I know I never made it into my office so I missed feeding the small Arowanas and the Monos. None of the arowanas died thankfully, but two of them got fairly beat up over it. The monos weren't thrilled with being "starved" for a day either and a few of them actually looked slightly emaciated. Had I ended up missing another day I'm sure there would have been deaths in both tanks.
While so far I've been glad to not get whatever stomach bug this is, it got me thinking, what would happen if I did? What do you all do with your fish if you get sick and laid up for 3 or 4 days searching for long lost friends Ralph, Chuck and Earl?

| Well my fish don't have a real schedule...I skip days here and there but never the same day...The only one who gets bitchy about it is my Jag, she sometimes gets crabby if I miss two days in a row. The only ones who get food every day are the small growouts or juvi's or fry. lmao Ralph, Chuck, Earl. | |

| I normally make it part of my schedule that there is one day a week that the fish do not get fed, a fasting day for them. If you think of their wild counterparts, it would be quite natural that there would be days when the "hunt" doesn't pay off. If I am sick, I usually make that one of their fasting days...and haul myself out to the fishroom anyway after that first day. We have also gone away for long weekends at times, at which time the fish go for a few days without being fed. (There is really no one else I would trust to not overfeed them and risk fouling the water....much safer to have hungry fish) | |

| My girlfriend feeds them when I cant. Saint you should look into automatic feeders for the fish at your office. This way they wont miss a meal. | |

| Missing a day shouldn't be a big deal. The one exception is if you are raising fry. I've even had fry live a couple of days without a meal when I was away for a weekend. They were ready to eat when I got home though. | |
