| Not too bad but getting the sand clean is a PITA. and removing gravel and adding sand with fish in is a bit tuff....just finished the 75g still cloudy as hell...I doubt I will get to the 125 tonight but maybe. | |

| Yikes! Doesn't sound like fun. Can you get all the fish into buckets, drain and then make the substrate swap? | |

| Well not going so good....rinsed the hell out of it and it is still dirty as hell....Who ever suggested play sand should be shot. I am almost going to take it out and start over.....two days the tank is still clowdy 5 50% water changes...I am pissed off right now. gonna do a 100% water change when I am done with the rest of the tanks water change today. If that dont help going a different route. | |

| I went to a local hardware store when I was thinking about using play sand. I took a look at it and it looked very dirty and silty so I decided not to use it. I have heard pool filter sand is a much better option but haven't tried it yet. | |

| Playsand.... SUCKS!
Pool filter sand is much better. Much more uniform granules and less dust.

| Really sorry to hear that MC. I used play sand for my 30 gallon but not while the fish were still in the tank. I think you will get much better results with the 100% water change. | |

Sand is sand for the most part but make sure it is pre cleaned or washed...stay away from play sand. So I got mad and re-did things....I took the sand out and fish and did crushed coral and medium gravel mix....mostly coral though. It look stellar...I will find something to do with the sand. I will post pics when things settle a bit.

| As I have told others who want to use play sand.
Steps to using plays and in an aquarium 1 rinse 2 rinse 3 rinse 4 rinse 5 rinse 6 rinse 7 rinse 8 rinse 9 rinse
Think your done? Just to be sure do it again!

Thanks, I liked the sand a bit better but the coral is cool and the tank looks better in person IMO!

| It looks great!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My brother didn't take my advice and used play sand instead of pool filter sand. He paid for it. About five 75% water changes and he still had a cloudy tank. Sorry you had to go through it. I guess we all live and learn. | |
