| Well I after loosing over half of my fish in my recent move, I am getting an itch. I have three empty tanks in which I dont have a lot of room and originally I was so upset I wasn't going to get any more fish for a while. Well as you know we all love the hobby and my love for the hobby has got me wanting to do at least one more tank for now. So I have decided to get my ars up and get the 29g up and running. I will likely get things up and running tomorrow.
Now I am not sure what I want but I do have some ideas. I want to go with a non Cichlid tank; yes I said non Cichlid tank! I want to go with a fairly peaceful tank with a mix of top mid and bottom dwellers. I know it sounds funny but I would like to overstock a bit to make a full tank. I was at the local Petsmart today and seen some glofish...green, red and orange. I was thinking about 6-8 of them....But I am open to anything...pros, cons (no not convicts) and comments, so stock my tank! Oh by the way I stole the idea from wyomingite only on a lot smaller scale.

| Well, I forgot to add I am putting a BN pleco from my other tank in as well as a Ctenopoma acutirostre...I think I want some corys and am going to get six of those glow fish (dianos). What else? I may put another BN in if I can find him in the 125g...tried to today but he must of been deep in the rockwork. | |

| Will this be a planted tank? I've heard the glofish don't have a very long lifespan.(not sure, heard it somewhere) An angelfish and a group of tetras maybe? And may I suggest panda corys. Or scrap all that and make it planted with a fairly large group of tetras and some mystery snails?lol The possibitlities are endless. | |

| Well this is what I picked up today...
4x Red eye Tetra 4x Peppered Cory (should of got Albinos) 4x "glow" Dianos (Glo Fish 2 red, 1 orange, 1 green)
Oh along with the BN pleco and the Ctenopoma acutirostre!
I will likely bump the schools to six...just needed more money I didn't have. I will likely get one more larger centerpiece fish to go with the "leaf fish" or one more school of something else, oh and the tank wont be planted i remember kgryl asking....um yeah whada think?

| Well trial...wait no error...The Perch ate three of the golfish last night only one left...now I am hoping he eats that one too cause there is no school now and I wont buy more...I should of known but underestimated the pearch I guess....on to plan B...any suggestions. I was thinking about a powder blue dwarf gourami and another school of maybe tiger barbs? | |

| Oops... I'd skip the gourami if yer goin' with tiger barbs. gourami + tiger barbs = one harrassed gourami IME. The long ventral fins are a prime target for the barbs in most cases. If ya go with the barbs, I'd look into a mid-sized or larger "small" cichlid. Somethin' along the lines of a keyhole, maybe a single kribensis, etc. WYite | |

| That perch is gonna mess up anything small. They're usually bastards. Nocturnal bastards to boot.
What about one of the smaller bichers? They're neat. They hang on the bottom. I think the Polypterus senegalus stays small enough for a 29.
Snakeskin gouramis are very pretty too. I've seen 'em up at the farm, though I have no idea what their tank requirements are.

| Even P. senegalus hits a foot, plus or minus. Too big for a 29. I was thinkin' gold barbs instead of tigers, maybe with a larger gourami. Not sure the perch won't nail gold barbs when its fully grown, unless the barbs are on the larger side.

| I didn't know they got that big. I thought they said 6 to 8 was average. Maybe I'm thinking of a different one?
Musk turtle could go with the perch I'd bet.

| P. senegalus is one of the smaller bichirs. I've never heard of a 6-8" average for any species of Polypterus. Who's the they, 'cuz that is some incorrect info.
Musk turtle wouldn't num num num the fish?

| They being chain pet stores. I should have realized that was wrong before I even said anything. Either Petco or Petsmart (I forget which) sells P. senegalus as a Dinosaur Eel, and the info on 'em in store says 6"+. They just forgot to mention that it's plus another 6 inches I guess. I had a small one here for a week or two, a long while ago, but the guy that took it knew far far more about it that I did. As far as the musk turtle goes, I'm not 100% sure. There's a female Razorback (Sternotherus carinatum) here, that has happily coexisted with a number of different faster moving fish. She's lived with comets originally that were meant to be her snacks, but she never ate them. I had her in with a flowerhorn till the fh outgrew the tank, and now she's in with a smaller cat and a Socolofi. | |

| I'm sure the two strains of barbs would school together.

| You might consider some Australian Rainbows. They are energetic, colorful and would be to big for your perch to eat. Just a thought. | |

| Good thought, there 1nevrkwitz. Less likely to nip at a gourami than barbs, as well.
