| Siamese Algae Eaters I find are the best for getting rid of beard algae. I have 3 SAE and I use to have beard algae growing on some java moss in a 5 gallon tank. I would pull a bunch of the algae out and put it in the tank with my SAE and it would be gone by the next day. The only down side to the SAE that I have seen is they also love to eat the small leaves off java moss stripping it bare, but seem to be fine with my other plants. | |

| When I had my 55 (heavily planted) I had a massive outreak of bba. Someone suggested that I put diy co2 on that tank. I did and within two weeks all the bba was gone. It took two bottles of the diy running at the same time but you wouldn't believe the growth that the plants experienced with it. I kept the co2 on that tank until I sold it. You may want to give it a try. | |

| I'm not sure if it's beard algae or some other variety, but in the tank with feeder guppies, I have some of the coolest looking maroon, almost purple algae growing all over the pvc pipe that's in the tank. I'm not trying to get rid of it though, I like it. | |

| Well getting tons of plants will help the algae problem but you might also get as much of the algae out first. | |

| I do not know the beard or some other species of algae, but in keeping guppy tank, I have some of the coolest looking maroon, almost purple algae growing all over the PVC pipe in the water tank. | |
