| I have a lot of questions tonight! I used to have a eel that looked like a black worm, although it was probably a foot long, very skinny (like earthworm skinny) and a very peaceful fish for the most part. One day it got out of my tank and I found it later in the next room under my couch I can't figure out what he was so I can find another...my 150 gal is pretty much escape proof and he was a really cool guy to watch. Any ideas? | |

| Probably a fire eel or maybe a tire track eel. | |

| They're bigger than an earthworm diameter wise, but maybe a bichir too. | |

| Sure it was an eel? It sound like a caecilian, usually sold as a Sicilian worm. They're actually amphibians.

WYite Wyomingite with the win! Thank you! They are ugly as all get out but super friendly actually. You can hand feed them once they trust you. Then they're totally cute. And yeah, they kinda feel like a worm but more slimy. Thanks for solving this! Now I just need to find out where I can find them. I don't live in the same area as I did then. | |

| It's been quite some time since I've seen them anywhere, but I have no doubt that *someone* online is selling them. Try checking the classifieds over at kingsnake.com, they have an amphibian section there. | |

| I can't even eat gummy worms. Scoleciphiobia is what its called, saint and I looked it up one night on line, like at 2 AM, when the rest of ya had abandoned us in chat. LOL. As irrational as it is, it's there.

| Happy New Year everybody (or early for the left coast people)! I did find my worm up for sale on another fish site, but hell now they want $150 for one. I think I bought mine for like $15 back in '97. For something that is a pure expert at tank escapes, I'll have to think on that. They sure are neat though. And not super wormy, just the body...they have a little face even...and eyes (even though they can't really see well). Awww, they're just cute! | |
