I only show mine off to friends or post pics on forums....I don't really have any so called "show" quality species. I love looking at my fish, watching them grow, breed, and feeding them....That is enough enjoyment for me.

GCCA will not be having the Classic this year due to the ACA being so close in time and distance.

Showing fish can be tricky. If you take a fish out of a large community tank where it feels comfortable and drop it into a 10g tank that has 0 decor the fish will clamp up and hide behind the sponge filter. Most people who show fish on a regular basis "train" their fish to be out an about in a small tank.

Takes a lot of time and practice to condition a fish to show off its best in a small tank with no place to hide.

I know that the clasic will not be held this year I talked to someone yesterday. I will be going to the ACA and will be showing some of my dwarf cichlids. I dont have the fish that I am showing in a community tank they are in a 20 long by them selfs I am keeping them in pairs right now with hopes of them spawning before the show

You put fish through too much stress in shows. But, with out shows, none of the awesome strains of fish will have been made.

My local fish club does a bowl show every month and I've been thinking about entering one but I'm not sure if the fish will like it much Wink

I'll probably give in one of these days.

Actually a properly prepared show fish feels less stress in at the show than a community tank.
