PostSubject: AqAdvisor - "Intelligent " stocking calculator   AqAdvisor - "Intelligent " stocking calculator EmptyWed Jan 20, 2010 10:48 pm

Unfortunately, the previous thread about this calculator got lost, so I am creating another one in its place.

To access the app, please click on AqAdvisor site.

Remember, I did my best to make the app as flexible as possible so that I can describe individual species behaviors as close to reality as possible but in many cases I don't know the answers to them. It has many general rules, which by default, it will follow. Then I can create exceptions for those specific cases that don't work. If you find the app reporting wrong results, please let me know - you are helping me by doing this, and others who will use the same combo later on. Hundreds if not thousands of feedback have already been integrated but there's still much to go!

Thanks in advance! Smile

Well I put the link up in the useful links section, actually I had Grumpa do it. Also I put two jags in a 125g which is the setup I have with only two filters and it works out pretty ok as far as stocking and filtration requirements.

Sounds good. Smile

Let me know if you ever find any results that look wrong.

Thanks.

Why do all these threads keep getting deleted???

scratch

Let's all refrain from pushing the big "X" that says delete when we are moderating a thread Wink

It's too bad we lost it there were some good discussions on there.

I think it was something to do with how much space they needed in a tank due to shape maybe. Not sure though!

My memory must be worse than yours... Wink

But we can talk about it here. How would torpedo shape (i.e. slim?) affect space needed?

Ahhh...I see. It took me a couple of times messing with the merge thing before it actually made any sense. I wonder if the forum host company has directions on merging and such that can be posted in the Mod section. Try not to lose any sleep over it Wink

The torepdo disscusion was about Puntius Denisonii. They are about 4-5 inches and need space due their shape and are fast swimmers. I had a 29g high put in and these fish showed up. I have seen a 5 incher at my LFS. They still have the stunning fish in a show tank which is about 125g full of assorted mid-sized community fish. Also, he/she is in w/ a 4 incher and about five 3 inchers. Fun to watch those 7 run from one end to the other. I've wanted those a few months ago but, was lead a way saying minimium of 55 gallons since they like space. And that torpedo shape means fast swimmer

Tank length is the real issue with denisonii, rather than volume. As SBL said, they avg. 4.5"-5", up to 5.5",and are a fast schooling fish. Volume wise a 29 may be enough, but IMO a 30 inch tank is too short. It would be akin to tryin' to keep a school of 3-4 balas in a 75. Ya could do it, but it wouldn't be fair to the fish.

Thx Wyite, I knew they could work in a 29 since convicts can since both grow 5 in. but, they need the length due to their shape.

- Size of Blue Acara has been increased to 8 inches.
- Adjusted aggression defense levels for small species to be more consistent with each other, especially amongst tetras.
- Updated scientific name of Scarlet Badis as Dario Dario. Also, Dario Dario entry as a common name has been removed. Dario is now known as dwarf variation of Badis species but since "Scarlet Badis" is a popular name used for what's now known as a Dario species, this name has been retained.
- Added Juwel filter variation - Jumbo/Bioflow Super + Pump 400 for Rekord 800 tanks.
- Added UNIMAX canister filters.
- Added Marineland HOT Magnum Pro series filters.
- Fixed a bug: User Defined value for filter is being reset to 0. This has been fixed.
- Fixed a bug: "Clear fish selection" link was affecting tank sizes. This has been fixed.
- Fixed a bug: Flipping units after selecting species didn't work properly. This has been fixed. (Last release was very buggy! I'm glad I am my own boss!)
- Changed the layout - now it is more friendly for lower resolution displays such as those found on netbooks. It will not go wider than 1024 pixels.
- Now when you select a species '1' is auto-populated in the Quantity box.
- Changed one of the message - instead of "too big" now it will say "may become food". Some species can still consume other species without becoming "too big".

- Total number of filters in DB has been increased to 255.
- Total number of species in DB has been increased to 737.

Requester: Pseudomugil Signifer was already on the AqAdvisor's DB.
Requester: Please provide a profile page on the web on the species "Feti Fetus". Could not find any reference to this species.
