Fishing at my local pond 6/17 Empty
PostSubject: Fishing at my local pond 6/17   Fishing at my local pond 6/17 EmptyFri Jun 18, 2010 9:30 am

I stopped by my local pond for a 1/2hr on my way home from work last night. I caught a couple of very small LMB on a 5" wacky pumpkin senko out of the weeds. The strange thing was on one of my retrieves when the bait got close to shore I saw a 24"+/- water snake jump out of the reeds and grabbed my bait. I really couldn't believe it. That thing must have been hungry. Here's a few pics and proof that senkos can catch just about anything...

...yes it was catch and release...

...and since this is a fish website here's a couple of pics of the fish.

Water snakes are amazingly good at catching things. There's one down here, that you could toss in a rat and it would catch it in mid air like a dog with a ball. I'm not that into the snake end of things. I don't mind 'em but they don't interest me all that much, water snakes, or at least this one anyhow, is turning out to be an exception.

Yeah...I couldn't believe how easily that snake grabbed the bait. It was pretty cool.
