| $13 bucks 15 watt bulb to replace an incandescent bulb in the 5g. A little pricey but worth it and I supported my Local Fish Store (LFS) | |

| The sevs decided to spawn today. They seem to love to get jiggy in the winter months. It has been a year or more since the last time they spawned. | |

| Sweet dog what ever happened with the last spawn?
My life....selling the 125g Wednesday. This will leave me with way too many fish for just the 120g. I will be moving fish around and getting rid of a lot of what I have this week. I want to get a 55g just don't have the time for the larger tanks anymore a 55g, 5g and 1g will be no problem. Anyway letting the 125g go for $400 with stand and equipment. Trying to sell the 120g and the fish I have in both tanks.... Will likely do a goldfish tank with the new55g or something easy!

| I had about 35 fish come from the last spawn but something seemed genetically wrong with them. I raised a few to a couple of inches long but they ended up not making it. It almost seemed like they had something wrong with their gills or something. It was weird. Maybe the fish were to young to have a viable spawn or maybe the adults were genetically incompatible. I'm not sure. I'll have to wait and see if anything comes of this latest spawn. I'm not really looking to raise any fry so whatever happens happens. All I know is if any fry decide to venture past the tank eggcrate divider they will quickly become flowerhorn chow. | |

| Nice and nice and good luck both of you with all the babies! I sold the 125g yesterday, now I have a boat load of fish in the 120g. They are doing exceptionally well sense Monday which amazed the hell out of me. Still looking to thin out almost all. | |

| LOL, yeah she's against me getting tats or piercings (I've been thinkin' 'bout it, even though the docs recommend against tats 'cuz of my meds), and then calls me on her lunch hour today and says she's gettin' her nose pierced. She's been preaching to me that we're of an age now where we need to look "respectable" and set an example. This cosmetology school is doin' strange things to Mrs. WYite... | |

| So, I found the psycho killer-tiger barb-from-hell in his tank today, dead. Now, I bought this guy and two others, for my office tank in Feb of 2008. When we reorganized in November of 2009, I moved to smaller quarters and tore that tank down and brought all three of them home. They went in a larger tank, and I added 9 more tiger barbs. The next morning, one of his two long term companions and 7 of the new fish were dead, ripped to shreds. The other long term companion and the remaining 2 new tiger barbs were in bad shape, and he would chase them back into the corners whenever they left the upper corners of the tank. I immediately moved him to a 10 gallon tank in solitary confinement. The rest of my tiger barbs died over the next coupla days. He's been alone in that 10 gallon ever since, and he's been lookin' kinda gnarly the past coupla months. Humped back, scales sticking out, color fading on his fins, but he still greeted me every day at feeding time and was eatin' well. Old Father Time caught up to him, though, after three years.
The amazing thing is, one of the three silver-tip tetras that I got for that office tank when I bought the barbs is still alive and showing no signs of aging. So it's 3 years old and counting.

WYite Wow sounds like he went on a rampage and did a little "I'll show you" before he passed on! Sorry about your losses but he had to show the others who went to the fish school of badasses...lol!

| I guess that was it, MC. Never understood that rampage, that was over a year ago now. Figured putting the three in a 33 gallon tank would be the prime time to introduce new fish and increase the size of the school to 12 fish. He just went berserk after lights out. All was good when I went to bed, and the next morning... After that, the 10 gallon by himself. He even tried to get through the glass to the Malawis in the tank next to him when he was in the 10. He'd woulda got a comeuppance then. Still, wish I could got three years outta the other barbs.

| Usually Snappy turns her nose up at plants and vegetables. Her tank is the duckweed factory for everyone else. I had a few extra brussel sprouts leftover from dinner so I tossed one just to see what she'd do with it.
Turns out that she ~loves~ them and ate the rest.

| Thanks, Dirtydawg. He did live a good long life, though. And he lived it his way, LOL. Three years ain't bad considering he was full grown when I got him. | |
