PostSubject: My Severum Fry   My Severum Fry EmptyFri Jan 30, 2009 12:04 pm

I know I posted some of these pics under another topic but I couldn't find where I put them so I started a thread. I added the pic I entered into the POTM and I figured when I update pics I can put them here where I'll be able to find them...lol. Hopefully I can get some updates this weekend.

In this series of pics the fry are 7 weeks old...

I started with about 25. After culling and a few with some health issues I have 6 left.

They are very cool. You guys keep posting all these cool breeding pictures, and it makes me want to start trying to breed some fishies.

Wonder just how epic a tank I'd need to breed the pacu. Wink

Thanks guys!

Saint, you could put them in the pond with the waterbed heater...Wink I would just hate to try and get rid of those fry while making sure they go to a good home.

Where are ya gonna put 'em? With the 2 RTCs ya just bought, ya already filled up the 75 your settin' up. BTW, good luck with the 75. Didn't see a post that ya had scored one.

Well here's what I had already posted on another thread when you asked the same thing...

Quote :
Very Happy another month or 2. You may need to look into some bigger accommodations though. Your tanks already seem very full of large fish. If you put a 1 to 2 inch sev in there not only will there be no room once the fish grow...they will most likely become a quick little snack.

60s are an odd size. I know of one that was built by a specialty glass company, (weird corner angled thing too) that I gave them some fishies for it. Otherwise I've never seen 'em in fish stores or what.

Not sayin I don't believe you have a 60, Biggie, just interested since it's such an oddball size. Is it a Hex or one of those all enclosed systems like an Eclipse or a Cube?

As for the pacu fry, I betcha turtles would eat those just as much as they like Cons and Comets. I have no illusions of ever finding them *proper* homes, just you guys keep making me interested in breeding and they ain't goin' nowhere. Wink

Maybe I can work out a free tank for next time your sevs breed. They stay on the smaller side of things.

Okay, come on guys... In all fairness to Ddawg here, stop and think about this a second Alex. Last week your goldfish were in a 20 long and now ya moved 'em to the 25. The 150 is overstocked and everything in there would eat the sev fry in a heartbeat anyways, and up until today I hadn't heard ya mention anything about a 75 gallon or a 60 gallon. The 75 is out 'cuz in a coupla months it isn't even gonna be big enough for the RTCs. Now it's more than likely that Ddawg hasn't seen any posts about these two new tanks, either, right?

No doubt your turtles would find a way to get rid of the Pacu fry...Wink

You thinking of getting some sevs?

It's been a while since I've had Sevs here. In fact the last one was from Mike D, but that one went out same day as it got here. The sev that came in yesterday even though it was beat up some, I forgot how enjoyable they are to watch cruise around.

On par with the Angles and Discus but not nearly as skittish. Or at least this one isn't anyhow.

They are green severums. I like the sevs for 2 main reasons...they are very intelligent and interactive fish. They get to know who you are after a while and will come up to the front of the glass to say...Hey gimme some food! I also like them because IMO they are on par with the beauty of the discus yet they are much more affordable.

Oh, cool! I'd love to see some pics (In a different thread of course). If you have nothing else in there at this time and you get it cycled I can work something out with you for a couple of sevs. I wouldn't recommend more than 2 for that size tank though.

In a few months I get the tank. I bought it used and the person I bought it from is still using it. So I'll wait until March and then let you know!
