PostSubject: My Handicapped Fish   My Handicapped Fish EmptySun Apr 12, 2009 8:56 am

Well most of you already know about my severum fry I've been growing out and I just wanted to share this...

One of my fry is a determined little bugger and I just can't bring myself to cull him. About 2 months ago I went to feed the fry and noticed one was laying on its side in the corner of the tank. So I got the net out and went to scoop him up and he got up and swam away. I was thinking to myself, "it will only be a matter of a day or so till he would die". Well as I said it has been about 2 months and he's still alive and well, other than his strange behavior.

When I turn on the lights in the morning he is always sleeping on his side in "his" corner of the tank. Once the lights come on he knows it's feeding time and he swims right over. He gobbles up his share of food and then swims right back to his corner to take a breather. Once he rests for a couple seconds he heads back out to the middle of the tank looking for more food. He spends a good part of the day swimming around the tank but when he gets tired he heads back to his corner and takes a timeout. This little guy is just so determined I can't bear to get rid of him. I guess only time will tell.

Wow he is determined! What kind of severum is he?

The mate to my angel with the infection got into a fight with another angel a year ago, lost an eye and swims tilted we thought he was a goner. It took him 3 months to heal and get use to only having one eye. He still swimms tilted but is a happy little angel.

Sadly nature did take its course today.

This little guy couldn't hang on any more. He ended up living 5-1/2 months.
