I had always been told by Discus keepers to keep around 6 of them together. I did keep them for a short period of time and they were painfully hide in things shy and not once saw any aggression issues.

Ive kept mated pairs together they will be fine. If not mated then i would go with 6 or so till they pair off!

6 is the min I would recommend. Discus are schooling fish and need to be kept in a group of 6 or more (unless mated). This will alow the group to creat a hierarchy and spread the aggression to multiple fish than just 1 fish.
