There's a few places down south that do turtle rehab, breeding and whatnot, who are getting overwhelmed with animals from the oil spill. One of the ones we know called and asked if we could give a hand with some florida musk turtles that lived too close to one of the affected areas. We got to talking some, and it sounds like a handful of those guys are most likely coming up here for a while to hang out.

The other exciting thing is that I just finished up some forms that if approved and if there's a need, we could house a handful of hatchling sea turtles. From what I was told there was a number of beaches with eggs that are surrounded by oil.

Personally I think we're too far up and out of the way that we'd ever actually get any, but who knows. I figured I'd have to offer, since there isn't really any way outside of moving next to an ocean that I'd be able to do anything with them otherwise.

Cool, sounds like you are gonna be tied up a bit but it also sounds like it should be fun.
