PostSubject: Flowerhorn   Flowerhorn EmptyTue Aug 10, 2010 11:49 pm

I picked up a flowerhorn a couple of months ago and just haven't had a chance to post about it yet. I have always been semi-interested in them because some of them are kinda cool looking but never thought about owning one. Well that all changed when I was at a LFS and saw a juvie flowerhorn and it was going for only $12 so I couldn't pass it up. Right now it is about 3-1/2" long and is in my 75gal with my pair of sevs. I did have some rainbows in there too but the FH had them for lunch over the course of a couple of weeks. I would come home one day and see one floating around with no head affraid I wasn't a huge fan of the rainbows anyway. So far the sevs and FH have been getting along fine because the sevs are quite a bit bigger. Hopefully things will stay that way but I may have to get another tank for him/her when they get big enough to possibly pick on the sevs. Here's a few very bad pics.

Spiffy.

FH tank mates seem to entirely be a fish by fish basis. I've had a few here that were complete sweeties, and I've had some that make red devils look like a bunch of sissies.

At very least I can pretty much guarantee the FH will take no shit from the sevs. Smile

lol...most fish are hybrids. I guess the difference is they are naturally occurring hybrids and not captive raised hybrids Wink

I can understand the desire for pure/clean breeding stock for genetic diversity and all that, but at the same time, I'm not at all bothered by any of the unnatural parings that exist out there as well.

So long as they're getting taken care of, and is healthy, I don't care what people cross with what. Even the parrots, as weird as some of them look manage to do really well here.
