| Yeah, Dawg...remember that tank we talked about the one you could "swim with the fishes" OMG, you guys I don't know exactly what I feel right now. I am "honored" I guess you could say but at the same time kinda "odd" feeling. So....my step-dad (actually my ex-stepdad) he and my Mom were married for 27yrs, then divorced ok, so he is still my "step"dad to me (well, I call him Paw) anyway, he called me today (which we talk all the time so nothing odd about that) anyway we were talking and he asked me which name I go by now (my ex's last or my madien) I told as of the divorce I took my name back (I am no longer his so why would I keep his name), but I haven't changed my SScard yet so at work and stuff I am still my "married" name atm. I asked him why.......welll, he continues on with the fact he has made his funeral arrangements and he named me as the "contact" person for when he dies. I am suppose to tell them what to do with his body once he dies. It is all paid for (the funeral and everything) and he wants to be creamated. He had 3 children that are actually his so I'm sure once may cause problems when the time comes...but I think I would have them put his ashes in a "vial" that goes on a necklace. Is that to strange? Then what do I do when his kids start the whole "thats MY dad stuff with me"? OMG, I just don't know how to deal with all this when the time comes. Don't ppl usually talk to the person they want named first before they do it...that is what threw me off so much, normally I would think a person would say "I am planning my death proceedures, and I would like to name you as the person in charge of what to do with me" right...I mean is it normal for someone to make these kind of arrangements and then just tell you "oh, btw...you are in charge of my body once I die"? | |

| Sounds like he still considers ya a daughter. Lady G. As to the way he dropped it on ya, that's not an easy thing for people to talk about, can be an emotionally charged subject. Sounds like he was trying to make the best of an awkward situation he didn't really know how to handle himself. As for his three kids, if its in his will then there really isn't a whole lot they can do about it without a legal battle. Sounds like he considers you more trustworthy than them.
My brother is executor for my aunt, even though she has two kids of her own. They aren't happy, but my aunt knows their rivalry will explode when she dies and that is her way of diffusing ill feelings between siblings (she hopes).

| Well from past experience ie my Dad, Grandfather and Grandmother family will never be totally satisfied with the decisions of who gets what and why. I have found out the best way to deal with it is to make a decision and stick to it. If no one else likes it tuff...When my Dad passed the evil and greed came out of the family in full effect. Death can be hard enough to deal with...in fact I am kind of in the same boat. My Uncle who is also my god father who raised me when my dad was murdered has contacted me a couple of times telling me he is giving me everything and that I am responsible for everything when he dies...I have even had to sign legal work already although I think he still has a few years.
Now, it is going to be ridiculous as he is a pack rat and a jack of all trades....I dread the day this comes around mainly because I am going to have to take a leave of absence from life to sort through all the bullshit and what not. Anyway back on the original topic it wont be easy LG just take it as it comes and try not to think about it till it happens...no sense dwelling on things that havent happened yet. When the time does come just roll with the punches and back up your decisions 100%. There has to be a reason behind him putting this up on you and not someone else. Everything will work itself out in one way or another.

| LG, I think you should be honored that he thinks so much of you. As far as dealing with his kids...the best thing IMO would be to remind them that this is how their father wanted things to go down. You are just honoring his wishes for his estate. | |

| Yeah, thanks guys! I am still a little "off" about the whole thing, but it does make me feel good to know he thinks so much of me. Hopefully I wont have to worry about it for quite a while. | |

| Oh, I'm on board now. A-roid because of steroids. I thought A-roid was referring to hemorrhoids, which was alright, too, 'cuz I don't really care for the guy. Course, not much on baseball either. WYite | |

Nah...I doubt it. It just looks like he's using the old Babe Ruth training regimen to me. Cheeseburgers and beer.
