| Thanks Pauly!! I am going to keep trying to get a good pic, it is driving me nuts. The pics do them no justice, you can see the white line on the top of their fins already they are sooooo cute! | |

| Something I found to photo faster moving fish like mbuna. When lights on be ready with the camera they hold more still when they are just getting used to the light. Good luck with them.

| Itty bitty. So are they some of the insanely evil tiny ones or are these a bit more well behaved? | |

| LOL, they are not "evil" just smaller then I was expecting, I thought they would be about the size of my Labs which are about 2-2.5"...this little buggers are only about an inch to a inch and half. Thank you Wyomingite..I'm sooo happy, now I can't wait to be able to get my next set which will most likely be the Albino Socofi (not sure I spelled that right so I hope you know what I mean ). 2 sets down and 4 to go!!!!! LMAO..the "dark" side are you refering to the FW?

| Just a suggestion but maybe you can try the macro function on your camera too. It usually looks like a little flower symbol if you have it. It may help clear up the pictures. They did come out better with the flash though. | |

WYite Dude, that Socolofi I have here has gone out twice and both times has come back for being too evil. I do want to try more/other africans but I'm thinking I'm gonna stick with the Venustus for a first go, all the mbuna ones i've had here so far have been nuts.

| Lady G, if you're talking about Socolofi, I hope you have better luck with them than the one I have here. Pure terror for anything he's been in with (yea it's a male) even in a really large tank.
I'm thinking he's going to be living the rest of his life alone here.

I'm thinking he's going to be living the rest of his life alone here. IME, socolofis are one of the more variable species in temperament, kind of a middle ground mbuna in aggression. They've mix fairly well with just about any other species I've had. But like any other cichlid, especially Africans, aggression is a relative thing and every individual can differ from the norm. I'd still like to get a look at a better pic of him, saint_felony, a full side shot. Somethin' in my gut still tells me he may be one of the "blue zebra" species rather than a socolofi... WYite

| No prob, Wyite.
I'll try and get some better pictures of him, see if we can't officially id him. I gotta do something about his tank anyway, I just noticed the ancient 10 he's in has a very very slow leak. I'm going to put him in that 8 I was telling you about until the patch stuff dries. The 8 has very nice lighting so I should be able to get something good with it.

| Saint..yes that is what I am talking about and the reason I am getting more then one...going for 1 male with 3 female. By doing that and it not being the only of it's kind in the tank, it should help with the aggression some. From what I have read and been told by others I have talked with in a "community" cichlid tank, the ratio of male to female of each species is key to keeping the aggression down. Dawg, I don't think my Camera has the "micro" on it, I know what you are talking about my old camera had one. Of course I lost the book on mine and I can't remember what I did to get good pics before. Here are a couple more pics I got today (used my Moms camera).. | |

| As for this suspected socolofi here, Lady G. He came in with two others of the same kind. They were an "assorted" african cichlid tank rescue at the local petsmart, where the group of them were beating up and killing off near all the other africans that were in the tank with them. I had put the three together in a 20 long, just for overnight, it had plenty of places to hide, and I was due to have a 55 come free the next day. At any rate, they seemed like they were doing fine the entire time I was around. I came back to check on them the next day and the one left here had killed off the other two in with him. He's actually been out of here twice, and has come back both times for being too mean to the other fishies. If this guy here is a socolofi I hope you don't get any like him. | |
